"Chronology of Vedic Civilization" (SB 2.8.28)

Alachua - 1994 / (530)

In 1994, the Birla Science Center in Hyderabad convened a symposium on Ancient Indian Chronology to re-evaluate historical timelines using astronomical references found in Vedic literature. Points of general consensus included 1) Vedic civilization is much older than scholars generally believe; 2) the Aryan invasion is not factual; 3) the Sarasvatī River has been identified; and 4) the Indus Valley civilization was in fact Vedic. Although some participants viewed the Bhāgavatam from the perspective of our current way of thinking, Thompson suggests that by looking at everything in context, the Vedic literature appears internally consistent but not always compatible with modern science.
